Seducing the Myth

I'm conscious I haven't been updating much recently, but that's because I've been writing. And playing with new ropes. And stuff.

Meanwhile, a short story I did a while back is now out in Lucy Felthouse's edited collection Seducing the Myth (link to Amazon.co.uk, opens in new window).

If you're in the States, the Amazon.com link is this one.

The collection as a whole has 24 tales inspired by myths and legends of Greek, Roman, Arabian, Arthurian, Hindu, Jewish, Norse, Slavic, Sumerian and Welsh sources. There are fairies, mermaids and ancient fertility rituals and, in my story, a smattering of bondage (well, what else would you expect from me?).

The full list of contributors is: Louisa Bacio, Lexie Bay, Rebecca Bond, Shan Ellis, Justine Elyot, Lucy Felthouse, Lisa Fox, Fulani, K D Grace, Bronwyn Green, Hawthorn, Caz Jones, Burton Lawrence, Maxine Marsh, J. C. Martin, Jillian Murphy, Lydia Nyx, Rachel Randall, Kay Dee Royal, Toni Sands, Indigo Skye, Elizabeth Thorne, Saskia Walker.

My 'Andi in Chains', is a retelling of the Andromeda myth in a pulp fiction style (well, why not?). Teaser:

Forget the rumours. Here’s how it went down, for real. Andromeda – we always knew her as Andi – was one of those rare beauties, the kind who look like a porn star except none of it’s fake. Masses of wavy blonde hair, nice figure, long legs, lips the colour of pomegranate seeds. She knew it, too. Always in shorts or miniskirts and tops that showed a good bit of cleavage. The thing was, none of the guys would touch her. Word on the street was that she was still a virgin, which in this neighbourhood was nothing short of miraculous. Most of the girls here are well on their way to being mums or prostitutes, or both, by the time they’re fifteen.
There was a reason why she was off limits. The reason being her dad, Ceph, was the hardest, nastiest Class A dealer you could think of. You don’t get to be that way without putting a few people six feet under, and everyone knew he’d done it. One time he even nailed a guy’s dick to a telegraph pole just for “looking at Andi the wrong way.”

Enjoy!

Erotic Review - new story

It hasn't been quiet at Casa Fulani. It's been hectic, which is why I haven't done any blogging. I can report that I finished a collection of short stories, more news on which will probably take months to emerge but that how it is in the world of publishing. Some stuff made it onto Deliciously Deviant and you can see it there, I'm not going to repost it here.

I've at least started my next novel, with an SF feel to it since it's set maybe a year or two in the future though I have a nasty feeling that somewhere, the world is already pretty much as I'm describing it - so it could end up being more realistic than I anticipated. Fact is often stranger than fiction, etc.

And normal service will be resumed when I've dealt with some 'housekeeping' items and pressing commitments from what I laughingly call my 'day job', much of which seems to extend into the early hours...

Oh... but what I can tell you is that the January issue of Erotic Review (issue 117, the 'Free Love' issue) has a story of mine, 'Nostalgia, All over Again'. For some reason it appears on the cover under another name, but who cares, really? It's a kind of homage to a little bdsm scenario out of Oh, Calcutta!

Click the link, pay the subscription if you don't already have one, and enjoy. I mean it's not like it's just me in there. There are three other stories and a whole host of feature articles and provocative thinkpieces... plus you can tell it's classy because there's even an erotic crossword...

Vampire's New Plaything

It's been one of those weeks in which things have happened that, from a writer's point of view, are so improbable that if you made them up you'd think 'I couldn't possibly use that, it's too off-the-wall'. Since I know they have happened, though, I may well use them in a story at a later date. Because I'm like that. They probably won't be erotica, but you never know...

Meanwhile my story 'The Vampire's New Plaything' is out as an e-book, pdf or Kindle (epub) format, on Xcite (or, for the North American market, Xcite.com). A tad under 6000 words for 99p or $1.49 and there's even a special 3 for the price of 2 offer running at the moment. Vampire theme (obviously) and a nice cosy read for the long nights running up to Halloween, or Samhain, or however else you might like to style the end of October.

Drumming up erotica

I know it's not a particularly erotic pic, but I was just playing with my djembe in the back garden and caught this on my mobile phone... The reason it's vaguely relevant is that I've just caught up with the fact a short story of mine, 'Drumming', made it into August's Erotic Review magazine - issue 112, the Holiday Issue.

Now that ER has moved to online-only, they've dispensed with minor details such as sending out proofs so there's no advance warning they're actually going to use a piece now! Not that I care, I'm just happy to see it's in there.

To be perfectly honest there were a couple of details I might have tidied up, but that's just my OCD nature - I doubt anyone else would even notice them, and if it ever gets to be included in an anthology I'll deal with them at that point.

The piece was somewhat inspired by a few drumming workshops/pagan camps I've done over a period of a couple of years - which is of course not to say that the story represents anything that actually happened there. No, of course not. Not to me, anyway. I swore I would deny everything.

Meanwhile, quite apart from banging my own drum, I notice there's a story by Clemence Sebag called 'Choo Fetish' - and it's as a good a piece of experimental literary erotica as I've ever seen. I know I get my subscription for free as a contributor, but I'd say that one piece alone is worth the full subscription price, paid in actual money.

The next step towards (erotic) world domination is achieved!

Well, sort of. I heard a couple of days ago Pink Flamingo, in the US, wants my first full-length erotic novel. It should be out in June. So all those nights slaving over a hot computer and not going to fetish clubs were worth it!
I'll post more about the novel itself in due course, and I do apologise for not putting up more entertaining posts on current events - there are only 168 hours in a week and I recently seem to have been working about 180 of them. I should really take some time out and do more of the kinds of activities about which I write...
Pink Flamingo, incidentally, is at http://www.pinkflamingo.com/ - though don't expect to see my stuff on there for a month or two yet.
Also the latest copy of Erotic Review (issue 108) dropped though my mailbox yesterday, the General Erection issue (and we now know the date of the general erection, of course) with a cover featuring a very priapic Big Ben. I have a piece in there which is my personal take, following the MPs expenses scandals, on the kind of expenses they should have been claiming and why. There's a link to ER on the right of the page through which you can order a copy, though in terms of the free content you probably won't find my piece on their site for a couple of months yet.
Anyway, all this leaves me with an interesting problem - which of the various ideas I have should become the basis for a second novel.

New story out, another accepted

The people at Xcite don't hang about. The story I mentioned last week is now out - 'The Incubus Candle', in the Spirit Lovers ebook anthology edited by Miranda Forbes. Five great stories in the collection as a whole.
As always if you connect to Xcite via the link on the right of this page (and then buy stuff!) it helps my income flow very marginally.
Meanwhile, I spent most of Tuesday evening and yesterday writing another story and the folks at Xcite have set what may be a world record for turnaround. I emailed it to them in the early hours, so they'd have seen it about 9 this morning and the acceptance was back with me by midday.
The just-accepted story is a departure for me in that it's a lesbian one. Hopefully it shows my lesbian and female bi friends that I've been paying attention and do pick up on little details of technique, emotion and vocabulary!

New stuff

Two pieces out soonish. A short story about an incubus, in an e-publication anthology from e-Xcite that will be out soon - no, I don't know exactly when 'soon' is, I've only just seen the proofs. And a short piece in the next Erotic Review, which should be out in the next couple of weeks.
Links on the right hand side of this page - and with Xcite, you're doing me a favour if you link through from here cos it's an affiliate link.
I'll post again with more details when things are actually out in print, or with the appropriate electrons appropriately arranged so they can come down wires to you.

I write for Xcite...

One of my stories is just out in the e-Xcite (electronic publications) book 'Red Hot Reads 2' - as you might expect from the story title, A Question of Control, it has a power-exchange theme. Look in the ebooks part of their site and you'll see it there as a downloadable PDF.
Another story will be out in a paranormal collection sometime soon.
If you use the link on the right of this page you'll be doing me a favour as I'm now signed up to their affiliate programme.
I'll sort out banners and stuff sometime soon...
