Voodoo Fetish

Voodoo Fetish. My latest novella, out with Xcite Books now.

It follows on from Ridden, the story of Eloise - a language teacher in the Caribbean who has paranormal experiences following a car crash, and finds she's been given supernatural healing powers - which can only be exercised through extreme bdsm sex.

If you think that's weird, by the way, bear in mind I know a few people whose own experiences with sex magic - as both practitioners and recipients of healing - are close parallels.

In Voodoo Fetish,

Eloise is back in England, believing she’s left behind her the weird sexual experiences and voodoo rituals that shaped her time on “that island”. But an encounter with a dead witch in a London graveyard lets her know the spirits still have need of her, and the miraculous healing powers she can channel during intense, BDSM-themed sex. Can Eloise and a group of like-minded fetishists help save the life of a girl who’s tried to raise a demon, and can she free herself from her obligations to the mysterious Baron Cimitière?

Well of course she can't. The third part of the trilogy will be out mid-year. I don't guarantee she'll be freed of those obligations even then. But in the meantime you might be entertained by what happens in London. It involves meeting someone who was bathed in the blood of a chicken at midnight, on a lonely crossroads outside New Orleans. It involves gas masks, a fetish nurse, four-way bdsm sex, and the use of a whip to drive a demon away. It involves a new hairstyle and punky pink hair. And it involves, more than anything, using sex and bdsm to drive her intent to make something happen in the real world.

Buy it at Amazon.com or Amazon.co.uk.

If you like it and want the backstory, it's in Ridden - here are US Amazon and UK Amazon links.

Ridden, now out

A week or so after my Corporate Slave novel came out, here's the new novella: Ridden, available from Amazon.com and Amazon.co.uk.

It's a vodou-themed paranormal erotic novella with a lot of bdsm, and it draws on a fair amount of factual material as well. Among other things, vodou is a syncretic religion with a diaspora that means you can find practitioners/followers in almost every world city, by no means all of whom are from the original West African/Caribbean/Latin American/New Orleans areas where it emerged or became embedded in the culture. And it involves the practice of followers being possessed - or 'ridden' - by spirits, of in vodou terminology, lwa. Hence the title

Ridden is book 1 of a trilogy. It's complete in its own right, but books 2 and 3, out in the next few months, will extend the story somewhat.

It should appeal to anyone who's into bdsm erotica who likes paranormal themes - or who likes the idea of the 'paranormal' being treated with some degree of seriousness.

Not being a practitioner myself I have not done a travail to encourage anyone to read the book. It'll have to make its own way in the world, on its own merits. I hope you enjoy it.

If you want to read an extract, there's one on my Tumblr blog. And of course the first pages are visible on the Amazon 'look inside' function.

I'll also have some publicity-related news for it next week.

The Naked Delirium fan!

It's been a while since I posted. I plead insanity, as in an insane (if self-imposed) workload of surfing the internet, playing Solitaire and making coffee - in between which I've been trying to write a(nother) novella, a story collection, some poetry (dodgy doggerel, really) and some sensible stuff about social policy.

But I'm also mindful that I promised a nicer pic of our author copies of Naked Delirium, and here it is, courtesy of Velvet Tripp; a fan of books. Yes, obvious pun, I know, but I'm known for being obvious.

Places you can buy the paperback edition of Naked Delirium include Amazon.co.uk and Amazon.com; plus, apparently if you live near a branch of Waterstones you can pick it up off the shelves.

Places you can buy in kindle format are also at Amazon.co.uk and Amazon.com, and about 10 other ebook formats are available at Smashwords. But the Kindle and ebook formats don't have the nice Georgio Verona illustrations in them.

The book has five novellas, including one from me ('Smoking Hot') and one from my partner, Velvet Tripp. The collection theme is 'sex in altered states', which in my story is interpreted as the unanticipated side-effects of hypnosis to stop smoking (as in, your mind is in control and you don't have to sublimate your desires) and Velvet's story is about spirit possession taking place in the course of a pagan camp.

Plus the individual novellas from the collection are available separately, but if you want links just scroll back to find them a couple of posts ago.

Dodgy doggerel, I said. If that's your thing, you can see it on my Tumblr blog - but be warned, I sometimes write stories for a porn website, Achtungfetish, and if you want to see the doggerel you'll also be seeing some fairly explicit pics of the bdsm scene that inspired it. 'Nuff said? The story is, of course, on the Actungfetish site in the members' area.

Finally: stand by for announcements soon about a paranormal erotic novella I did for Xcite, and a full-length, full-on, hardcore erotic bdsm novel finished recently and out soon from Pink Flamingo.

More Naked Delirium

Arrived yesterday: 20 author copies (mine and Velvet's) of Naked Delirium - we are two of the five authors whose novellas are in the collection. Pic taken on my mobile. No doubt Velvet will get her Nikon out later and do a more artistic arrangement.

And then the question is, what do we do with them? Some will go to people we know will review them. We'll want to hang on to a couple. As to the rest - offer a free copy or two in a draw?

Suggestions?

Smoking Hot audio extract

Text-to-speech is a wonderful thing, though I've had to edit the text a little because 'Alex' doesn't pronounce some words particularly well and I had to use Garageband to tinker with the timings where I could (I could probably have played with Alex's intonation as well but there's a limit to how much time I was able to spend on it!).

But there's a 4 minute 23 second extract from 'Smoking Hot', my novella in the Naked Delirium collection, that you can hear over on my Tumblr blog.

And 'Smoking Hot' is available as an individual novella in about 10 different ebook formats over at Smashwords. The whole collection and other four novellas are all there individually as well - here's a link that lists them all.

Naked Delirium

I didn't know exactly when this was coming out - but it's out. Sweetmeats Press have released the Naked Delirium collection, five novellas with illustrations including my novella 'Smoking Hot'.

Currently it's available in print on Amazon, as a Kindle ebook, and in around 10 different ebook formats (some of which will include the illustrations and some won't) on Smashwords.

So here's the blurb for the collection:

The mind has the power to save us from depravity...or to drive us further to it! NAKED DELIRIUM delves deep into the human psyche to celebrate sex in altered states! Five twisted tales, lusciously illustrated by Giorgio Verona! Within these pages, we invite you explore the indecent expanse of the unfettered mind, and maybe get a little bit delirious yourself. Free your mind....and great sex will follow!

Individual novellas from the collection are also on Smashwords, and will probably be elsewhere soon - but here's a link to 'Smoking Hot' as an individual story.

I won't give you the whole set of synopses for all the stories (they're on Amazon and Smashwords anyway) save to say that the altered states tend to revolve around paranormal activity - except for 'Smoking Hot', in which hypnosis has helped Hannah kick a 40-a-day smoking habit. But hypnosis can release unconscious desires. As the story says:

The weirdness kicked in pretty quickly, right about the time she would, in her former habitual-smoker lifestyle, have reached for her next cigarette.

Hannah wasn’t innocent. She knew exactly why the weirdness was happening. Her subconscious had been processing ideas and leaving her with, apparently, self-confidence, clarity of purpose and intent, and better and more positive ways to lead her life.

She was still exactly the same person: but then again, she wasn’t. She’d become someone new and different, someone with a more self-confident, clearer, positive intent.

An intent to do the things her subconscious had kept bottled up for, well, quite a few years.

Oh yeah - I don't know about the others, but I happen to know Velvet Tripp's novella 'A Woman Possessed' has some very hot menage and bdsm in it (I was fortunate enough to be able to read it pre-publication) and my own story has the usual touch of bdsm and bondage you'd expect in one of my stories. In other words, rather a lot.

Happy reading... and as an afterthought, I'll leave you with one of the illustrations by Giorgio Verona (I think taken from the novella 'Gilinda and the wicked Witch' by Vanessa de Sade).

Naked Delirium

Out soon (expected mid-August) from Sweetmeats Press. Note the 'explicit content' advisory.

An illustrated anthology of sex in altered states. Five novellas, by Fulani, Kristina Wright, Sommer Marsden, Vanessa de Sade and Velvet Tripp.

Velvet, incidentally, is my partner and an author in her own right, so you get 'his and hers' stories in Naked Delirium. That's only happened once before (Xcite's Lust Bites collection, available direct from the publisher or on Amazon.com or Amazon.co.uk).

Oh yeah - notice that last line on the cover? It's an illustrated collection, though I think only if you get the print version.

More details and trailers sometime soon.

The Vampire Skye - now out

So this is the new novella I mentioned a week or so ago, The Vampire Skye. It came out yesterday, published by Xcite.

Blurb: Leah works for the Authority, a secretive Government department dedicated to managing the vampires who live in society and keeping their presence hidden from the human population. Her latest client, Skye, wants to flee the Authority’s restrictions and go off-programme – and if that means feeding from Leah in the process, so be it. As disorder sweeps the city and the ordinary rules of engagement no longer apply, how will Leah deal with all the problems Skye throws her way – not least the fact Skye is her dominant fantasy lover made undead flesh?

I'd been wanting to write another vampire story for a while, particularly since my last one - The Vampire's New Plaything - and the Lust Bites collection, which has one of my stories and one by my partner Velvet Tripp - have been doing rather well.

My take on vampires is perhaps a little sideways, since I've long regarded them as useful symbols/metaphors that can be used in two distinct ways - vampires as those who bleed others, which might make them comparable with capitalist and banking fat cats, and those who are outsiders in society, which might associate them with the socially excluded, those who are marginalised because of their creative vision, political views or other factors. In this novella, the vampires are the latter.

I've also been thinking about a bunch of perhaps slightly stranger stuff. For example there are cases of 'vampire burials' mainly in Eastern Europe but with recent findings in Ireland and elsewhere, in which bodies were mutilated in ways intended to stop them rising from the dead. There's a lot of speculation about stones placed in their mouths - to stop them biting, prevent the ingress of other spirits into the body, give them something to chew on... plenty of theories but we don't actually know.

I spent some time pondering how vampires would fit into contemporary society given our mania for forms of ID, and came up with the idea of a secret government agency that provides them with ID. Why would they do this? Well, maybe as a legacy of their having been involved in government work. That takes me back to more 'regular' science fiction/fantasy themes such as the Brian Lumley 'Necroscope' novels, and the mythos of vampires recruited by both sides in World War II and a German 'Vampire SS', which somewhat links and extends both weirdnesses that did happen in WWII and Hitler's apparent beliefs in the paranormal. How about fangs? Fangs only started to appear in vampire films in the 1950s - so maybe vampires don't automatically have fangs, and only those in secret military units were supplied with them - and when Hammer Horror came up with the idea the government programme of providing fangs was halted. So that would imply that fangs do not a vampire make, and you could have those with and those without fangs.

Then, of course, with the postmodern world of government agencies being hived off into non-departmental bodies or semi-privatised, maybe the body that made all the arrangements for vampires had suffered the same fate, and was facing cuts or closure.

A lot of this is fairly rapidly introduced as the context for the story along with the subtext of riots and disorder, as we saw in the UK recently. But don't let any of that stop you, because the novella is fiercely erotic, very lesbian, and has quite a bit of BDSM play in it.

Vampires? Vampires!

OK, so this afternoon I was reading the proofs of my new lesbian vampire novella - The Vampire Skye, which might possibly even be out in time for Halloween (I'll post an update when I have a definite date).

It's not particularly long - 15,000 words - but it took me a while to work out locations, history, and an explanation for vampires that's half-inspired by and extremely loosely based on some recent scientific stuff.

But just before I started I was struck by a BBC news article. Headline details: in the UK the latest consumer price inflation figure is 5.2%, average pay settlements in the private sector are 2.6%, and company directors' incomes (salary and bonuses) as reported by Incomes Data Services also increased in the last year - by 50%. Average pay increase for this group was 43% and average bonus payment increased by 23%.

I sat there joining the dots, making sure I'd read the decimal points correctly, and thinking I'd been writing about the wrong kind of vampires...

Addicted to Rope - now out

This is the cover for Addicted to Rope - written last month and just published as a novella by Xcite. As the title suggests there's a fair bit of bondage involved in the plot, including suspension. Oh, and some use of Magic Wands. And pegs. And other implements. But mainly it's about bondage.

Opening lines:

It felt weird. Exotic. Slightly dangerous. It felt like a challenge. It put a tight knot of anticipation in the pit of Ruth’s stomach, because the little demon inside her that automatically rose to a challenge was bouncing around in there.
Challenges were good, though. They made her feel real, alive, fulfilled.

Xcite gave me a publication date of 15th September but it's already showing on the Fulani section of the Xcite website (this links to the main site, just use the 'search' facility on the page to pull up all my titles).

Dreaming again

I woke up this morning from a dream in which my publisher was insisting the 25K word file I'd sent her couldn't be considered as a 'novella' unless it had been written on a train.

However:
- I'm not currently writing a 'novella' though I am trying to finish off a collection of stories and various other projects.
- I have 'publishers', obviously, and except for one they are female. But they're not people I meet or have lengthy phone conversations with, just emails back and forth.
- I have been on a train recently, a couple of weeks ago, but it was a 20-minute journey not a long-distance marathon. Even I can't write a novella in 20 minutes. And normally, on train journeys, I read.
- I did, though, recently review Sharazade's Transported. The review is about three posts back.

So I'm not clear what symbolism is in play here or what my unconscious is trying to tell me. If I get any clues later int he day I'll share them... or you could have a go at interpreting this for me?
