Strange but true...

How can bookshelves be erotic, or pornographic?

Is it the promise or suggestion of what might be lurking on the shelves? The nature of the space, with many hidden alcoves? The comfortable, worn furniture on and against which sexual conquests and deeds might be accomplished? The semi-public location, perhaps a large room with high ceilings and large windows? The transgression of fucking loudly somewhere that's supposed to be library-quiet? Is it the same erotic impulse in each case, or a different type of desire that's called up by different kinds of bookshelves?

Or is it just me and my imagination?

I feel a story coming on...

An idea turned into a piece of flash fiction. But it's not on here. It's published on Frequently Felt.

For the inspiration behind this slightly weird piece I blame a late night conversation with Randy Wornhole (

Normal service resumed...

I've been away for a few days hanging out with the pagans.

Xcite best erotic book brand!

I've just had an email to announce that Xcite Books won Best Erotic Book Brand at the ETO awards earlier this week in Birmingham, UK.

ETO - English Touring Opera, Efforts to Oucomes, European Telework Online... Yes, but in this case, nope. Erotic Trade Only bills itself as the adult industry's trade magazine, runs a trade show and seems to participate in or have a presence at a bunch of other shows in the US and Europe. The ETO Show presents something like 24 annual 'best in show' prizes in different categories.

I'm pleased, because as you will know I write for Xcite.
